EU-Supported Training Seminar in Dushanbe Drives Digital Transformation across Tajikistan’s Energy Sector

From April 21 to 24, 2026, a training seminar focused on the implementation of modern management information systems in the Energy Sector took place in Dushanbe. The event was organized under the European Union’s project, «Technical Assistance Package for the Sustainable Energy Support Programme in Tajikistan», in strategic partnership with the international company Best Run Solutions (BRS).

The offline seminar, hosted at the Crowne Plaza Dushanbe, brought together senior executives and leading specialists from key operational areas, spanning technical operations, finance, IT, and asset management. Among the key institutions represented were the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the State Energy Supervision Agency, and major national utility operators, including OJSC «Barqi Tojik», OJSC «Shabakahoi Intikoli Barq», and OJSC «Shabakahoi Taqsimoti Barq».

The primary focus of the experts and participants centered on disruptive technologies capable of redefining the modern utility landscape. During the four-day training, the following topics were covered:

• General IT architecture for the energy sector (ERP, mobile solutions, other systems)
• Overview of SAP functionality for energy, including the industry-specific solution SAP IS-U and experience in deploying industrial solutions across the post-Soviet region
• Analytics platforms and business intelligence
• Mobile solutions and field process automation
• Integration with metering and dispatching systems (SCADA, AMR)

A strong focus was directed toward the deployment of integrated digital solutions that ensure data transparency, improve management efficiency, reduce commercial and technical losses, and enhance customer service quality. The organizers noted that this seminar represents an important step in implementing the national initiative «Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development (2025–2030)», laying a solid foundation for the long-term sustainability of the country’s energy sector.

Representatives from Best Run Solutions noted that the intensive training session served as a genuine platform for the professional growth of energy sector specialists.
